Our pre-school room is a custom designed room which allows children to prepare for the transition into school life. Our expert staff design a programme which is engaging to the curious minds of three year olds, a programme which will grow their self esteem and independence, develop their mathematical and scientific concepts, teach shape, colour, form and space, enhance story telling and promote their imagination, increase communication and language skills, allow them to make sense of the world around us, give them a sense of worth and a sense of responsibility, continually develop their gross and fine motor skills whilst providing opportunities to gain control over their bodies and allow them to move in new and different ways, develop cross lateral movement which has been proven to enhance the brain's alertness, creativity, memory and ability to learn and is necessary for reading and writing because in order to read and write one must work from one side of the paper to the other fluidly.
Hand to eye co-ordination and understanding spatial concepts is also promoted as perceiving distance and space when grasping and reaching for objects is fundamental in everyday activities.
All this is achieved through a daily routine which sees the children interacting with one another, playing with age appropriate toys and being involved in decision and plan making. The value of a daily routine in the life of a small child cannot be underestimated. Children in pre-school are given responsibility for themselves and the environment around them by, taking on tidying up chores as well as toilet and hygiene routines. All this will enable pre-school children to develop and grow as they merge from nursery life to the big step of primary school education.
