Joanne Davidson

Hi I'm Joanne and have been working with Sandcastles Day Nursery since opening in May 2004. At first I was a Supervisor of Pre-School which I thoroughly enjoyed and then in January 2006 after returning from Maternity Leave I returned to take on the position of Manager to cover a maternity leave and since then have remained in this post.

Managing the Nursery along side Nikki is a challenging job which I thoroughly enjoy especially as it brings the opportunity of working alongside parents, children and our close knit team of girls which we employ here in Sandcastles. I have been working within childcare now for nearly 20years progressing through the different age groups over the years as a Nanny, Nursery Assistant, Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor before taking on Manager here with Sandcastles, I have to say helps immensely having worked through the different levels as I can relate better to my staff and work along with them on all aspects of room related and working issues.

I have always had a love of working and interacting with children and seeing how they develop and grow in the early stages, so naturally when I finished school I followed my heart and studied childcare at tech in Ballymoney, then left home and headed off to University in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where I studied for 3years. On returning home I decided I still loved the younger age group purely for the enjoyment of watching them grow and for the important experiences and opportunities you can provide in the younger years for them and not forgetting their quirky little personalities.

One of the things I feel helps to fulfill my job is that I am a mummy, very much helping in understanding how a parent feels when it come to having to leave their little one to go to work, also it gives you more experience in caring and knowing the amount of love and attention our little ones need every day. I have two beautiful very energetic children a little girl and a little boy who like to keep me on my toes all the time, one of them is at school and the other a toddler and both of them also attend Sandcastles Nursery and Afterschool Club.

I love nothing more than spending quality time with my husband and children in the evenings and weekends, when we like to head to the park or the beach and occasionally the Jet Centre to Alley Cats and the cinema one of our favourite things is a family night in with Chinese and fun on the Wii!!

If I get the chance on occasions I love to do some crafting, cross-stitching, card making and cooking and of course what all ladies love to do to relax catch up with friends over a coffee!!!
